Kaden's First Halloween

For Kaden's first Halloween, Megan made him an owl costume so he fit right in with the animal costumes the dogs were going to wear (Oscar the Shark and Ponch the Turtle)
Oscar was such a convincing shark that the Jaws theme was running on loop in my head all night!

Halloween is probably the most exciting and frustrating day of the year for Oscar and Ponch. They get so many visitors, but they have to stay outside, so they only get to watch through the window. Kaden enjoyed people watching...for a little while. Eventually, he tired of all the nonsense and deviation from his routine. He'll sleep well tonight! Since Kaden couldn't eat the delicious chocolate candy, we decided that it would be best to just give it away to some stranger's kid...after we put it on Oscar's head, of course.

Tarleton State University Homecoming

Tarleton homecoming is today, so I thought I would do a TSU-inspired post. The cup was the hardest thing to balance on Oscar's head, but because he thought my ring was a treat, that picture was the most difficult to get. Tarleton plays Texas A&M-Kingsville this evening, so we will see if Oscar brought the Texans any luck!

Refrigerator

If you thought it was impossible to get a refrigerator to sit on Oscar's head, well, you would be wrong.

Hats Part II

I took these pictures back when I posted the Sports Fan post, but they really didn't fit in with those pictures, so I just didn't add them. I came across them today and LOLed, so here they are!

Old Pictures

I found these pictures while organizing photo folders and decided that it is never too late to share them.

Snakes

I use these snakes in my garden to keep birds away from the fruits and vegetables (especially strawberry plants). Oscar things they belong to him, so every once in a while I'll find them scattered around the yard.

The Good Stuff

We don't eat smoked sausage or steak very often, but when we do, I always make sure to cut up a little for Ponch and Oscar. Oscar likes to savor his food a little more now that he is older (instead of swallowing everything whole as he did when he was a puppy), so he has no problem waiting a little longer to get his teeth into these treats!

Ermahgerd! Tenershberl!

The tennis ball, by far Oscar's favorite toy, proved to be the most difficult challenge in the Stuff on Oscar's Head saga. There is apparently one spot on his snout that is conducive to balancing a ball and once you find it, you can get the ball to rest on his nose...until he dips his head or twitches ears. Overall, I had fun with this one and I know Oscar enjoyed chasing the ball when we were done!

Kaden's Toys

Oscar is not allowed to play with Kaden's toys, but that doesn't mean that I won't tease him every once in a while. Oscar has always been possessive with his toys and treats (not aggressive, just selfish), but he seems to know that Kaden's toys are not chew toys and leaves them alone.

Meatballs!!

It's been too long since I have put anything on Oscar's head. We've been busy with Kaden and getting ready for a new school year. We had family over for spaghetti and meatballs and luckily, we had some meatballs leftover! Ponch barely swallowed his, while Oscar had to work for his.

Kole's First Attempt

Kole worked up the courage to put stuff on Oscar's head. He finally spends more time on the ground with Oscar than on top of the table where Oscar can't reach him. Oscar was really excited to spend time with Kole, so it was a challenge getting him to focus on even animal crackers, but Kole succeeded!

Kole's Request #2

Kole came over today and wanted to try putting a lollipop on Oscar's head. It didn't work out too well because Oscar was so excited about all the company that came to play with him...and Ponch (thanks Kole, Caroline, Nanny, and Papa). You can tell by the tongue hanging out of Oscar's mouth that we finally worked off enough energy to make the lollipop stick. The only problem was Kole went inside and missed the whole thing.

Weeble

This is a Weeble that Kole gave us (along with some of his other favorite toys) for Kaden. The Weeble did in fact wobble, but did not fall down!

Dr Pepper Fan

Oscar loves Dr Pepper almost as much as I do. I don't let him drink much because he's not the type of dog that needs sugar in his diet (it has nothing to do with the fact that the more that he drinks, the less that is available for me to drink).

Professor Dog

When Oscar puts his nose in my business, I like to put my glasses on his face so that he at least looks sophisticated. This look is what I like to call Oscar's "Professor Dog" look.

Inanimate Objects

Oscar's attention span is quite limited when the thing on his head is something he can't eat (even though he gets treats when we're done), so he is much more successful when he is completely prone rather than sitting. The photo with the Monk book is the first request from Kole and he always tries to eat my Starburst when he comes to our house, so I took that one with him in mind.

Dog Treats

Oscar's favorite things to have on his head are things that he can eat. He loves animal crackers, so it was pretty easy to work with him because he was eager to please so he could eat the crackers. Once we mastered animal crackers, we tried some things that weren't as tasty.

Oscar's First Blog

This is Oscar. I created this blog for my nephew, Kole. He likes it when I put stuff on Oscar's head and I thought that this would be an easy way to share Oscar's adventures with him.
